He Knows Our Needs

April 17, 2017
Hello friends and Family,

So I haven't emailed in two weeks please forgive me haha. Not a whole lot happened in the last two weeks.
She says this, but last Monday she got to go hold newborn lambs and snuggle puppies!
 That's something!)
We had our investigator, Patty, come to
church two weeks in a row!
She is so awesome and cute! Sister Grover
and I went on exchanges last week with the STL's. I stayed in Kaw Valley with Sister Chisholm and Sister Grover went to Lake Shawnee with Sister Bench. It was super fun to be with Sister Chisholm. She is crazy... and fun... but mostly crazy hahaha!
But mostly I want to tell
you about this sick Miracle that happened this week.

Well, last Friday, Sister Grover and I were driving and we were stopped at a light when I saw this young woman with her son who looked to be 3 years old walking across the cross walk. As I looked at her, I did something that I have never done but recently decided to start doing. I looked at her like she was literally my sister and I thought, “Wouldn't I want to share the gospel with my sister and want her to have the same blessings that I do?” And then I looked at her son and imagined him older. I saw him wearing a name tag. It was weird, but I felt like I needed to talk to her. So, I told Sister Grover we needed to park and talk to her. So, we did.

Turns out she needed help carrying her stuff to the hospital because she was going to see her friend. She had just come back to Topeka from Alaska where she had reunited with her birth family. When we talked about the Restoration of the Gospel and how God knows her perfectly and knows her needs. We then told her He sent us to her. She started to cry and told us she wants a better life for her son. She took a Book of Mormon and asked us to please come back and see her and that she desired to come to church that Sunday. I promised her that as she continued to meet with us and truly desires to know the truth of our message, Heavenly Father would bless her right away and that things would start to look up.

We were in contact with her the rest of the week. She couldn't make it to church on Sunday because she was stuck on the east side of town because of the storm and missed her ride by 10min. A member gave us food to give to her and her son because they heard that she was very hungry and needed food for her son. When we brought it she was so happy that she kept giving us hugs. As I looked around her apartment there was no food except a chocolate bar broken into small pieces. She had an air mattress on the floor and that was it. She told us that after she talked with us, that very night she found this apartment and moved out of her friend’s house. She said she has been reading the Book of Mormon to her son every night.  And she expressed that she wants to come to church so badly. It was the most amazing miracle I have ever witnessed! The sad thing for me is she moved out of our area so we can't teach her. We had to pass her on to the other sisters that are in her area.  But, it's ok because the important part is that we listened to the Spirit’s prompting and she will be able to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Today our district made light sabers and sneak attacked the whole zone at the church. There were injuries (me) but it was worth it.
Sister Chisholm grabbed my light saber and went for my companion so I went to save Sister Grover by rugby tackling her to the ground. Unlucky for me, she smacked me into the door and I busted my knee and my hand. There was blood but not too much hahah....It was a scratch on the hand and bruised knee that’s it! Don't worry Mom!
Ha ha ha! The important thing is that I saved my
companion from the savage Sister Chisholm.

Well that was my week. I hope you had an amazing 🐣 Easter !!!

Love,

Sister Magda

This Week in Topeka

April 3, 2017
Dear Family and Friends,

I'm sorry, it's been awhile since I sent one of these things out! But it's okay ha-ha!  So, Topeka is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Wonderful
people, wonderful weather, and wonderful scary neighbors who do drugs. Ha-ha! It's absolutely fantastic. Best!!

Last Friday we had lunch with all the sisters including the Lawrence sisters! So, I got to see Sister Gillespie! It was really awesome to be able to see her again. We had a wonderful time catching up. We also had good food... CHICK-FIL-A!!!!! Hahaha sooo good!!!

Okay, so we are working with a woman named Jackie. She is wonderful. We are also working with a family named the Williams as well, they are so cute!!! Really working on progressing all the children Heavenly Father has trusted us with! We went to try to visit a former investigator last week but she wasn't home and then I felt prompted to try the house on the other side of the street.  We got to the door, knocked on it 4 times and no answer. But when we turned around OUR FORMER INVESTIGATOR (or so we thought) had just got home. We played it cool and casually (raced) walked to her porch and started talking to her. She wasn’t the person we thought it was.  This is how we met Tara. She is such a fantastic lady! She has so many questions that she has been looking for answers to and as we were talking about The Restoration, she kept saying, “That makes so much sense!” After we taught her about The Restoration she asked if we could come back and teach her more on Tuesday! The Lord has truly been sending so many miracles our way this week! We were able to find so many new investigators. It was such a testimony builder about the power of prayer for Sister Grover and me. God truly does answer our prayers and it may be not as fast as we'd hope or in the way we hope but He will always answer.

I loved General Conference this week! It was so revelatory. We got to watch conference at the church for the first and last session on Saturday, and then on Sunday, we also watched two sessions at a member’s home which was also super nice because they fed us yummy food! So, it was all so good.  Two of my favorite talks was the one by Elder Holland, “Songs Sung and Unsung,”  and the talk by Elder Rasband. Elder Rasband,s talk on “Let the Holy Spirit Guide” about receiving promptings from the Holy Ghost was so awesome! My favorite part of it was when he was saying that we need to act on the FIRST prompting we receive—not the second or third but the first and not to fear if it is a prompting or not because 9 times out of 10 it will be right! That has always been something that has been hard for me—second  guessing the promptings I receive. What he said in his talk really has inspired me to act on everything I receive and not to second guess. We are so blessed to be able to have a living prophet and apostles to lead and guide us. It makes me so happy. I hope you all have such a great week!

Love,

Sister Magda
This little white mouse may have been involved
 in an April Fool's incident.

(Alisha’s mom thought twice about sharing this with you.  Then, she felt that if you know her, you will appreciate her sharing this. It is so her. Heh, heh!)
Funny story: So, while I was watching conference at a family’s home I was sitting on the floor...MISTAKE!  They happen to have a really fat FEMALE dog. While I was focusing on the speaker, the dog comes over and starts licking me all over so violently that I fall over.  It didn’t stop there. The dog starts to…do something that only male dogs are known for.  It was soo gross and while it
was happening the father of the famliy was just laughing so hard and said, "just play dead. Eventually she'll get bored and stop" I was like REALLY????  Finally, I got the dog off me but I felt very violated....

The lovely lady holding the mouse is...
the perpetrator of the incident!

Tidbits From Kansas

March 20, 2017
Dear Friends and Family,

Not a lot has happened this week since Tuesday. We had zone conference with the Topeka and Lawrence zone and it was amazing! Other than the STL's and Zone leaders picked on my companion and I to role play with them in front of everyone!... luckily, we only had to be the investigators and not the missionaries ha-ha #stressful. But they were really fun. We learned how to help our investigators understand prayer and how to pray and we also learned how to teach by the Spirit and ask inspired questions. All in all, it was a really great zone conference full of revelation.

Sister Grover was sick on Saturday and Sunday with a really bad fever so we had to stay inside for a little bit but it was good because I got to catch up on my Book of Mormon reading and cleaning the apartment. But its all good now because she is better and stronger than ever haha 😃

Today for P-day we found out about transfers and I am staying in Kaw Valley with Sister Grover for another 6 weeks which makes 6 months in Kaw Valley. i am so excited to see what the Lord has in store here in Kaw Valley and to be a part of it. I am super happy to get to be here for another 6 weeks with Sister Grover. She is truly an amazing missionary and has become one of my best friends. We also went took a tour of the capitol dome with the zone which was really fun!

Sorry for the super short email. It’s pretty crazy and hectic here ha-ha! I promise to send a better one next week.

Love,
Sister Alisha Magda
